Hommage
This installation gives me the opportunity to reunion a personal document based on my grand-father, a miner in the region Auvergne. The first images consisted of photo's, cartes, stones measure tools pictures. Some parts belong to collective memorie films [documentaries and fiction] ,newspaperarticles, official documents of the working conditions in the mines.
I made the fragments as a superposition. The two video's are functioning by their transparency and the layers will make a visual sediment. In the two films there is one image which doesn't dissolve even not so by the changes in the pictures witch covered this image.
In the first video there is a hand opening and closing with out any delay. The useless mechanic is linked to the unreachable. The second video revels a space and depth flooding a series of images. Those teasers of the story vanish as quickly as they came. This method brings to light the fragility of trauma in the souvenir.
The two video's the space where they appear, give a clean framework where every visitor can create his own interpretation. This work is obviously colored with personal experiences, from one who is filled with admiration for a courageous man being my grand father.
