introduction
This year the foundation Lavalette is organising this new project for late summer/autum 2004. An exact date is not yet fixed. Goals off point zero This project will bring 7 international artists together in the autumn of 2004, on an isolated location in France. The surrounding and the other artists will inspire the artists. The outcome of this project will be unpredictable. An open situation, starting from zero as far as possible, investigation, experiment, influence and registration will be the keywords. Participating Artists We will invite 6 international artists and a photograph that are interested to meet this challenge. Invited artists will be selected by their earlier work, cultural background, and discipline. Disciplines are photographie, architecture, video, conceptional, 2 dimensional design etc. This project is way of investigating. Searching for new ideas where artist can give a other direction to there work alone or in cooperation with one of the other artists. The photograph will follow the developments within the project. Also a video document will be made. About Lavalette We will start on a fixed date from then on it is possible to stay for 14days the minimum period is a week. Lavalette is surrounded by nature empty and abandoned but with a wide view. Far from civilisation you will find yourself only in company with the other artists and nature. It is located in the department Haute loire France between the villages Brioude and Chaise Dieu 70 km south of Clermont Ferrand. Lavalette has been ones a farm with stable and barn. The barn has had its first renovation on the ground floor the kitchen, toilet shower and a living room. On the first floor a dormitory. The barn has 3 walls it is an open building permanent in contact with nature. It is possible to camp outside. Tents will be available. The terrain surrounding lavalette is flat and is part of the location. Also in the old farmhouse can be used as working arrear. Press The newspaper reporters [by appointment] will visit lavalette. Material and equipment The Foundation will provide materials equipment if necessary. An inventor will made. Subsidation The foundation has received financial support from the Drac [Ministry from culture]. Because only 40% of the costs will be compensated. We must ask the participants to get support in there own country for this project. Travel expenses accommodation and materials will be as priority paid by the foundation. The outcome of point zero An exhibition of photo’s and will be shown on our website. In mars 2005 an exhibition will be organised during ‘lesmars’ in Clermont Ferrand. This international exhibition is organised every year more about ‘lesmars’ you will find more information on their internet site www.lesmars.net This will be the second part of point zero, in august we will know if point zero is accepted to take part in lesmars 2005.
